OVERVIEW

Those choosing this course will be required to run our bistro ‘The Castle Kitchen’, giving them the opportunity to develop good interpersonal, leadership, management and organisational skills. It will be necessary to work as part of a team, taking responsibility for all areas of the business.

There are 4 core units which cover:

  • Working in the hospitality industry
  • Working in the professional kitchen
  • Working front of house
  • Introduction to events

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is suitable for students who have an interest in preparing and serving food.

ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

PROGRESSION

The work of this course places emphasis on employability skills and attitudes which help to prepare young people for the workplace. On successful completion of this students will be well equipped to move onto employment in the hospitality industry or on to further study in Catering or Hospitality or Events Management.
